Nee Soon Town Council celebrated Cleaners’ Appreciation Day on 15 November 2025 to recognise the important work of its cleaning team. Along with songs and dances from different cultures, the event emphasised the importance of racial harmony and respect for different cultures. Nee Soon Central MP Ms Goh Hanyan presented awards to nine Heroes of Nee Soon, recognising staff and cleaners who have shown dedication and exemplary service. She was joined at the event by fellow Nee Soon MPs Mr Jackson Lam, Ms Lee Hui Ying, and Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi.

Following the awards segment, they distributed 15 refurbished bicycles to cleaners under the Cycle It Forward @ North West initiative. A sense of community spirit was felt strongly among the cleaners themselves. For 58-year-old Sakinah Bee, the event reflected the family-like bonds within the town council. “Such appreciation events for cleaners are rare, so I’m really grateful to be working for Nee Soon Town Council, where neighbours, colleagues, and employers are like family,” she said.

The camaraderie extended to the distribution of bicycles, with some recipients choosing to pass them on to colleagues who needed them more. Meazy Nayem, 24, one of the lucky winners, shared, “I will give this bike to my friend because I already have one, but I’m still very grateful for it.” Throughout the morning, cleaners, students, and staff alike continued to mingle. The event affirmed the town council’s commitment to acknowledging those who keep Nee Soon clean and welcoming every day.
