Celebrating Community Champions
One of the most heartwarming moments of the Nee Soon Town Council’s reopening event was the presentation of the Yishunite of the Year 2024 award. This accolade recognises residents who have made a lasting impact on the community through their dedication and service.
Mdm Aishah Bte Adbul Jalil, Winner
This year’s top honour went to Mdm Aishah Bte Abdul Jalil, a passionate advocate for community gardening. “I never thought I had green fingers, but as I grew older, I wanted to do something meaningful. Community gardening allows me to practice sustainability and share fresh produce with the community,” she shared with a smile.
Ms Ivy Choo, first runner-up
First runner-up, Ms Ivy Choo and second runner-up, Mr Lewis Yong, were also celebrated for their outstanding contributions. Ms Ivy, who dedicates her time to helping vulnerable families, expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am delighted to receive this award and encourage others to step up and help those in need.”

The Yishunite of the Year award shines a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the community — individuals whose efforts strengthen the bonds between residents and inspire others to give back.
